at The Old Forge House
Double Room - B&B with ensuite facilities, ground floor and own entrance.
The Old Forge House in rural West Mersea offers a range of holiday accommodation.
The original part of the house was built in the 1600's and it's most famous occupant was W Heath-Robinson, the well-known cartoonist and illustrator of eccentric machines, who lived here from 1913 to 1920.
The Old Forge House offers a haven of peace and tranquility in a rural setting while still being only 5 minutes from the waterside activities and restaurants. Perfect for a relaxing break in the North Essex countryside!
“What a wonderful place to stay for a girlie weekend! The Lodge was extremely clean and comfortable and came with everything you could need. The balcony has beautiful views and allows you to watch over the chickens. We were lucky enough to receive fresh eggs on our first morning, they were delicious! We recommend the lodge as it is only 20 minutes away from Colchester zoo and the beach. We will definitely be returning. Thanks again for a fantastic weekend.”

“We both had a lovely time last week during our stay. The Lodge could not have been more perfect and the island was lovely too. Having the use of the bikes was a great added bonus and we’re definitely recommending the place to our friends. Our only regret is not asking earlier in the stay about the fresh eggs as we could’ve had them every morning if we did!”

“We booked the accommodation online and it did not disappoint. We found it to be well designed, spacious and clean, and the kitchen, heating, TV and wireless internet all worked well. Car parking was convenient, the beds and furniture were comfortable and the location and views were excellent. The owner was on hand for any enquiries (but not intrusive), and it was easy to leave the accommodation in the clean condition in which we found it. Overall, five stars out of five.”
